Acura Forward Collision Warning
Acura Forward Collision Warning is one of the key Acura Safety features. Available on many models, it is an intuitive, well-designed piece of Acura technology. While cars are safer than they have ever been, collision avoidance technology gives you an extra layer of protection. Knowing that you, your passengers and your Acura have the protection of a Forward Collision Warning system allows you to drive with confidence and peace of mind.
Acura Technology Features
Acura technology integrates seamlessly into your vehicle. A forward Collision warning camera comes placed on the top of your windshield near the rear-view mirror. It comes placed there, so the Forward Collision Warning camera is not in your field of vision. Most people barely notice theirs! However, this tiny camera is continuously scanning the road for potential obstacles, including pedestrians. When it senses a potential collision, a "brake" warning light flashes on your dashboard, and a series of beeps coming from the car; these two warnings are designed to go in time for you to apply the brakes or slow down before an accident happens. While you have to use the brakes, the Forward Collision Warning system acts like a co-pilot who warns you of approaching danger.
Depending on your particular driving preferences, there are several ways to configure your system. You can turn off the Forward Collision Warning System, and you can choose between Long, Normal and Short settings. By navigating from the "Settings" menu and then to the "Vehicle Settings" menu on the Acura infotainment display, you will find a tab for "Driver Assist System." From there, you choose the setting you prefer. The Long setting gives you the most advanced warning, and the "Short" gives you the smallest amount of time to react. While you can turn off this system entirely, but this is considered a less safe option, and it is not recommended.
