Acurawatch Technology, Watching the Road While You Drive

With over 30 years of engineering experience in the automotive sector, Acura takes pride in producing vehicles that fulfill the needs and wants of our dedicated customers. As technology has progressed in those 30 plus years, Acura has remained at the forefront of technological advancements. AcuraWatch is a network of technologies that we have engineered to work in harmony with each other to gather terabytes of information, process it, and provide the driver with warnings when necessary. The system acts as both a passive and active suite of safety features. The technologies offered in AcuraWatch include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow is a system that takes conventional cruise control and enhances it. It utilizes an advanced radar system that is positioned behind the front grille. Set your speed and comfortable distance from the vehicle in front, the system follows that vehicle even if it comes to a complete stop, enjoy long drives with less driver input, and feel more relaxed when you reach your destination. Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) helps the driver to avoid a rear-end collision.

It utilizes radar to calculate the speed and distance of the vehicle in front. If it detects sudden braking, it will notify you, if there is no input from the driver the system will gently tighten your seat belt and automatically apply braking power according to the present situation. Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) all assist the driver in keeping their vehicles in the driving lane. If the indicator is not applied and your vehicle drifts to either direction, the system will provide both an audible and visual warning. If there is no response from the driver, the LKAS system comes into play by voluntarily budging the vehicle back into its lane. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind-Spot Information (BSI) utilizes sensors positioned at the rear of the vehicle to notify you of a driver in your blind spot or backing out of your driveway or a parking spot. It provides a notification to you if a vehicle is passing behind you.

Multiview Rear Camera offers the driver a bird's eye view of their vehicle. All of these available systems are integrated into our vehicles to assist drivers during a quick drive around town or a long trek to the cottage for the weekend. These technologies are not designed to be autonomous, and will currently require driver input.
